FBNet Belgium

Forum for the successful family business
Family businesses and FBNet Belgium
FBNet seeks to promote the sustainability of family businesses in Belgium and to strengthen the position of the family business in Belgium by:
  • exchanging know-how
  • developing knowledge
  • promoting interests
Family Business Network International
FBNet Belgium was established in 2005 and immediately joined the Family Business Network (FBN).
Created in 1989 in Lausanne, the FBN is the world’s foremost network for family businesses. This international organisation has over 3.000 members from all continents. The FBN organises activities, promotes research related to family businesses, and aims to be a forum for high-quality networking.

Next Gen

Even the younger generation is preparing for a role in the Family Business. For this purpose, there is within FBNet Belgium, there is a Next Gen program aimed at preparing our young members (between the age of 18 and 40) of the Next Generation for their future roles as responsible shareholders and eventually managers/stewards or even leaders of their Family Business. The objective is to exchange experiences and best practices among peers both in Belgium and (in an international context) abroad(?). Seminars, company visits, informal meetings, philanthropic projects and international trainings are all on the agenda!

Contact our dynamic Next Gen Committee for more details (see FR or NL version of this website).

Goals

FBNet reinforces the impact and the continuity of the Belgian family business

Dealing with know-how

FBNet facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experience via seminars and networking. The emphasis is on the owners and management of Belgian family businesses. How do you ensure exacting corporate governance? How do you guarantee the right succession in the company? What are the challenges of the family business in each phase of its development?

Developing knowledge and enforcing research

FBNet supports knowledge projects concerning family businesses by:
  • stimulating scientific research about family business;
  • mediating in national or international exchange of internships in family businesses;
  • supporting training.

Promoting interests

FBNet strives to promote a strong position and a positive image for the Belgian family business. It's goal is to strengthen and emphasize the positive societal role played by the family business.

Activities

Seminars

FBNet organises four seminars per year, and some additional events.
Focus on a single topic
Each meeting explores a single topic in depth. For example: how does a family business grow? Or: how do you ensure fresh capital and sufficient liquid assets, without losing control over your company?
Dinner
FBNet concludes the evening with a dinner. A great opportunity for exchanging views and making new contacts.

Newsletter

At least twice a year, members receive a newsletter with:
  • current news or background about family businesses;
  • new members;
  • up-coming seminars;
  • reports on activities.
